Dominant Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Awards.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.
The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.
A Year of Consistency
Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Historic Numbers
Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a historic £11m in tournament winnings.
She garnered almost eighty percent of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.
Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".
