Aircraft Spirals Out of Control into Palm Trees at Frequented Southern California Shoreline
A chopper hovering over a popular southern California beach unexpectedly started spinning out of control, eventually losing altitude and plunging into a line of palm groves as beachgoers watched.
Videos shared on social media show the aircraft starting to spin above the shoreline then plunging in the direction of the perimeter of the shore, where it gets stuck among palm trees and a steps close to the coastal road.
Emergency Response Information
Local firefighters said five individuals were transported to a medical facility including a pair who were in the chopper and were “rescued from the debris” following the accident on the weekend.
Three persons on the pavement were injured. Details on their condition were not yet released.
The cause of the crash was not yet disclosed.
